I obtained my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Auburn University and my master's and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver. I completed an American Psychological Association accredited doctoral internship with the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and I completed a 2 year post-doctoral program specializing in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center via the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
I am licensed to practice psychology in the state of Texas. I have provided therapy services to diverse populations in a variety of settings throughout my career including outpatient clinics, residential treatment and forensic facilities, hospitals and medical centers, nursing and rehabilitation homes, as well as public schools and college counseling centers. My specialities are in working with teens, families, young adults, lesbian, gay, transgender, and gender-nonconforming clientele.
I love Austin and the unique people that make up this great city. I try to stay active in this exciting community by engaging in volunteering and fundraising for non-profit and charitable organizations around town. I currently am a member of Girl Advocacy League, a partner and giving circle for the Girls Empowerment Network. I have previously served on the Board of Directors for Out Youth, a non-profit serving Austin area LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults. I am a 2020 Austin Under 40 Awards Finalist and was a member of the Leadership Austin Essential Class of 2019. I also am an adjunct faculty member at St. Edward's University and currently teach a course entitled LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy in their Master of Arts in Counseling program.
I am passionate about the work that I do and I feel very privileged that people are willing to share their stories, vulnerabilities, and aspirations with me. I think and hope you will find me to be a personable and genuine individual who is open-minded, thoughtful, and helpful to you. I also hope that you find my office space to be warm, comfortable, and less formal and stiff than traditional medical type settings. Some photos of my office are posted below to help you get a sense of the feel of the space in case this is important to you.
